Pairs of offensive and defensive players learn to work together to beat the other side.
Offensive players form two lines in the corner.
Defensive players form two lines at the blue line on the opposite side.
How it Works
Coach blows his whistle.
Defenders skate to the middle of the ice and then begin to skate backward.
Offensive players skate down ice and go against the defenders.
Run the drill for 8-15 minutes.
In a 2-on-2 defenders must focus on gap control. If they leave a large gap, the offensive players should shoot through it. Advanced players should try to use the defenders’ bodies to screen the goalie.
